Flying the friendly skys

I love flying, but I hate some of the bullshit that goes with it. It’s not like I have any particular horror story to tell, it’s just every time I do travel I am always dumbstruck at how logic seems to no longer apply, especially with everyones favorite government agency the TSA. Here is a short list from this morning of intresting things on the flight thus far,

  • I got accosted by a homeless lady that I had to run off after she started grabbing at my stuff. In the airport lobby. Security guards don’t even bat an eye.
  • I showed up two hours early as per normal only to find no one checking in flights at that time.
  • I go to ask TSA when they are opening security, to which they reply 20 minutes. No sooner do I sit down, but the same dude I asked opens the security gates.
  • In the process trying to find out what time the security gate opens I approach the exit of the security zone to ask. The setup for this scene is at one end of a fairly long corridor there is a man standing behind a podium, at the other end is a big sign that says DO NOT ENTER. I walk up to the sign and wave at the man. He makes a beckoning motion with his hand, so I start to walk towards him. He yells at the top of hislungs “DO NOT GO PAST THE SIGN!”. I return to the sign and yell back at him, asking my question. He makes the ‘I can’t hear you hand signal’ and then beckons to me, then yells at me when I walk past the sign. I give up.
  • I get shit from the security guard because I asked to have my film hand checked.

Besides that, and the occasional grumpy traveler and the pathologically bitchy “Flight Attendant” on my last flight, the experence has been plesant. My flight to Dallas is delayed, so I will post more if I need to kill more time.
